Description

"Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?‘. "— Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Civil Rights Activist

MLK Day of Service is a day to volunteer and honor the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. It's observed on the third Monday of January each year, the week of his birthday - January 15, 1929. This day of service celebrates the life and legacy of Dr. King and stands as more than just a day off; it remains a nationally recognized Day of Service, encouraging all Americans to volunteer and contribute to the betterment of their communities.

With schools and many businesses closed for the day, Hillsboro Downtown Partnership is adding opportunities beyond our regularly scheduled Tidy Up Downtown project for community members to give their time to make Downtown Hillsboro a more livable and welcoming place for residents and visitors alike.

Activities for this year include litter patrol, landscape clean-up, deconstruction of a temporary structure that needs to be removed, prepping seasonal decor for future use, and upcycling some materials for reuse at Downtown events. Shifts are staggered throughout the day. Follow this link for more info and to register.
