We are excited to see the City of Hillsboro is moving forward on the adoption of consistent code and enforcement around short-term rentals (STR). 

Robin Mann, an active short-term rental host in Downtown Hillsboro, and EJ Payne the director of HDP and a former host, will be facilitating a roundtable conversation with past, present, and future hosts to try to see if we can fine-tune our priorities and feedback to City staff and the commission. We anticipate the outcome of the roundtable to be confidence that your voice on this topic is either being well represented or that you know what concerns you will need to voice individually. 

Written feedback that could influence what is going to be presented to the Planning Commission at the end of the month, is due to City staff by January 10, 2024. Citizens are also welcome to speak at the Commission meeting and at the City Council meeting when the final recommendation of code is moved forward for adoption, but we have found being part of the conversation prior to this point is usually more effective.
